They used archetypical drawings and these universal symbols are combined as iconigraphic elements for patterns, compositions and embossing, ultimately creating 6 designs. This collection of Studio Job won the Editor’s award at ICFF New York in 2014.”

“‘Alt Deutsch’ is a collective name for several patterns created in the period 2005 – 2012. The drawings that were used for this theme were drafted with the same approach (emphasizing the outline). In 2006, for example, we designed Underworld for a public project, and in 2009, ING commissioned The Gospel. We also designed a number of new icons for The Book of Job in 2010. Adding these themes together created a mash-up. We first used this method of composition for the hand-painted furniture series Alt Deutsch in 2012. ”

“The Labyrinth concept was first used in 2004 for a surrealistic garden design in Japan. Afterwards, Labyrinth was further developed as 'Labyrinth Sofa' for the Italian furniture manufacturer B&B. After a few detours Moooi began producing the design in 2013.”

“L'Afrique emerged from the collaboration with Land Rover (2012 - 2013). Studio Job were asked to design and produce a unique, sculptural Land Rover Defender on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the iconic vehicle. The Defender is strongly rooted in Africa. They therefore asked manufacturer Vlisco - a specialist.”

“Perished was created in 2005. The concept was to take furniture pieces, including a triptych bench, and veneer with wood according to the 17th century marquetry method. Following a visit tot the natural History Museum in NYC, Nynke designed a pattern comprised of skeletons of various dancing animals. Perished was very successful after its introduction in Milan 2006 and since the has been exhibited worldwide and added tot important international collections.”

Nynke has been a fan of William Morris for many years and used one his expressive flower patterns as the inspiration for the design. The important difference with Morris was that the flowers in our pattern are completely withered.”
