Ett klassiskt Toile de Jouy-mönster från 1700-talet, tryckt på finaste bomull på extra bredd (176 cm) för att ha samma mönsterstorlek som originalet.

“This design is attributed to Greuze (born in Tournus in 1725) and represents the crowning of the 'chaste maiden'. This custom was started by St Medart, Bishop of Noyon, who, each year, offered 25 livres and a crown to the most virtuous girl of his diocese. The tradition is followed to this day, particulary in the world of fashion and, on St Catherine's day, girls who have reached 25 years of age parade through the street in fancy dress. It is possible that Oberkampf himself is represented in this design as an old man with a walking stick, and the angel appears to be a caricature of the foreman of the factory which produced the toile.
